Description

These best margarita recipes feature a tantalizing blend of añejo tequila, fresh lime and lemon juice, and a homemade sweet and sour mix. Perfect for parties or a relaxing evening at home, this drink is easy to make and bursting with flavor!


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces añejo tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces homemade sweet and sour mix
  • 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau or triple sec)
  • 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 57 small limes)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, simmer water and sugar to create a syrup until dissolved, then let it cool.
  • Once cooled, mix in the fresh lime and lemon juice to form the sweet and sour mix.
  • Prepare the glass by moistening the rim with lime and coating it with kosher salt, then fill the glass with ice.
  • In a shaker, combine the añejo tequila, sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur with ice and shake until chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over the ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

For a sweeter margarita, adjust the amount of sweetener in the sweet and sour mix.
Try adding a splash of fresh fruit puree for extra flavor variations.
