  • 8 oz. bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 13×9 inch baking pan and set it aside.
  • Melt butter and bittersweet chocolate in a 3-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • After cooling, whisk in sugar and vanilla extract. Then whisk in eggs one at a time until the mixture is smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Combine this dry mixture with the chocolate mixture, whisking thoroughly.
  • Spread the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-35 minutes. Allow the brownies to cool before cutting.

Notes

Make sure to let the chocolate mixture cool before adding eggs to prevent scrambling.
For extra fudgy brownies, underbake slightly and let them set as they cool.
