- 1 cup whole milk, warm (about 110°F)
- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 large egg (room temp)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3 & ¼ cups bread flour
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter (melted, for brushing after baking)
- Flaky salt (optional)
Instructions
- Warm milk until it reaches 110°F.
- Mix instant yeast with warm milk and sugar (if using active dry yeast).
- Combine wet ingredients in a bowl: warm milk mixture, remaining sugar, egg, and softened butter.
- Gradually add flour and salt to wet mixture, stirring until soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let dough rise in a greased bowl for 1 to 1 ½ hours until doubled in size.
- Divide dough into 15 equal pieces and shape into balls.
- Place shaped rolls in a greased baking pan and let rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 17-18 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush warm rolls with melted butter and optional flaky salt.
Notes
Store rolls in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
For longer storage, freeze in a resealable bag for up to 3 months.
Reheat in a 350°F oven for about 10 minutes before serving.
