Description

These Buttery Soft Dinner Rolls are a holiday favorite, boasting a melt-in-your-mouth texture and deliciously rich flavor. With simple prep and key ingredients, they’re perfect for any gathering and an instant classic on your dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole milk, warm (about 110°F)
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg (room temp)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 & ¼ cups bread flour
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (melted, for brushing after baking)
  • Flaky salt (optional)

Instructions

  • Warm milk until it reaches 110°F.
  • Mix instant yeast with warm milk and sugar (if using active dry yeast).
  • Combine wet ingredients in a bowl: warm milk mixture, remaining sugar, egg, and softened butter.
  • Gradually add flour and salt to wet mixture, stirring until soft dough forms.
  • Knead dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Let dough rise in a greased bowl for 1 to 1 ½ hours until doubled in size.
  • Divide dough into 15 equal pieces and shape into balls.
  • Place shaped rolls in a greased baking pan and let rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 17-18 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush warm rolls with melted butter and optional flaky salt.

Notes

Store rolls in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
For longer storage, freeze in a resealable bag for up to 3 months.
Reheat in a 350°F oven for about 10 minutes before serving.
