Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 large egg yolks
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet, your choice!
- flaked salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Heat a 12-inch oven-safe skillet over low heat for 5 minutes. Add the butter and let it melt completely. Stir in both sugars with a wooden spoon and turn off the heat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and egg yolks. Quickly add to the skillet and mix well, preventing the eggs from cooking.
- Add the vanilla extract and stir until combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just blended. It will be thick, so take your time.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, then bake for 20 to 25 minutes until mostly set in the center. Finish with a sprinkle of flaked sea salt.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For a gooier texture, do not overbake the cookie.
Feel free to use your favorite type of chocolate chips, or a mix of different kinds!
Store leftovers in an airtight container; reheat in the oven for a few minutes.
