This hot dog chili is packed with robust flavors and is quick to prepare. It’s the ideal comfort food for game days, cookouts, or a simple weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • Ground Beef (2 lbs)
  • Onion (1, diced)
  • Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
  • Crushed Tomatoes (28 oz can)
  • Tomato Paste (2 tablespoons)
  • Chili Powder (1 ½ tablespoons)
  • Ground Cumin (1 teaspoon)
  • Smoked Paprika (1 teaspoon)
  • Dried Oregano (1 teaspoon)
  • Garlic Powder (½ teaspoon)
  • Cayenne Pepper (¼ teaspoon)
  • Sugar (1-2 teaspoons, to taste)
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  • Heat a large Dutch oven over medium heat.
  • Add ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic; brown for 5-7 minutes until cooked through.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, then add chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, garlic powder, cayenne, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover; simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve hot dog chili over prepared hot dogs and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

Chili tastes even better the next day as flavors meld.
Avoid overcooking the beef for a moist texture.
Customize spice levels by adjusting cayenne pepper.
