Description

This comforting Onion Soup Gravy Chicken Skillet combines tender chicken, savory onion soup, and mushrooms for a fast and flavorful meal, ideal for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp salted butter
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup green bell pepper
  • 4 oz canned mushrooms
  • 1 pkg onion soup mix
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp cold water
  • Cooked rice

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt the butter.
  • Brown the chicken breasts for 5-6 minutes on each side until cooked through.
  • Add chopped onions and green bell peppers, sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  • Incorporate drained mushrooms and mix for an additional minute.
  • Sprinkle onion soup mix and pour in water, stirring well.
  • Simmer the mixture for 10 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  • Make a slurry with cornstarch and cold water, then thicken the gravy in the skillet.
  • Serve over cooked rice.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute butter with olive oil.
