  • Unsalted Butter
  • Eggs
  • Salt
  • Ground Ginger
  • Ground Nutmeg
  • Ground Cloves
  • Bread Flour
  • Molasses
  • Confectioners’ Sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Optional Garnishes: Sugared cranberries or gingerbread cookies

Instructions

  • Activate yeast in warm milk and brown sugar, let rest 5 minutes.
  • Combine remaining sugar, butter, eggs, salt, spices, and flour, mix well.
  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for about 2 hours until doubled.
  • Prepare the filling by mixing butter and molasses, then add spiced sugar mix.
  • Roll the dough out to a rectangle, spread with filling, and roll tightly.
  • Slice into rolls, arrange in a greased pan, and let rise for an hour.
  • Bake rolls at 350°F (175°C) for 25-28 minutes until golden brown.
  • Make the frosting by mixing cream cheese, butter, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Ice the warm rolls and serve with optional garnishes.

Notes

For vegan options, substitute butter and cream cheese with plant-based alternatives.
Ensure the yeast is active for best results; check the expiration date.
Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for optimal fluffiness.
